George Wood misses the point

A few days ago there was an interesting, if rather anti public transport opinion piece in the NZ Herald, by former North Shore City mayor George Wood – called ‘Upgrading metro rail system incurs huge cost’. Strangely enough, he actually spends the first half of it outlining in good detail the necessity of Auckland’s CBD rail tunnel project.…

Airport Rail

I must say I’m a tad surprised I haven’t dedicated a post to the topic of Airport Rail before, and it is certainly worth a bit of analysis and discussion. The Auckland Regional Transport Committee considers rail to the airport to be the equal sixth highest priority transport project in the region – which isn’t that high, but it’s certainly something that is likely to “go into the mix” some time in the near future.…
